Cass Lake is open for dark house spearing this season.  This chapter and its officers are in full support of this initiative and would like to thank the efforts of the people of Cass Lake and CLIFS.  The Cass Lake Chamber of Commerce, Break on the Lake Resort, and Froggy’s Sports will help line up a fun spearing experience on Cass Lake this winter.

 

The Fish Decoy Show held at the Sawmill Inn on November 26^th was a great success due to the good work of Jeff Best & his family, Brandon Williams, Rick Guertin, and a few others.  There were some local newcomers to the show this time.  Gary Kaminen showcased a 48 inch carved northern pike as well as a table full of decoys.  Dan Root & Richard Frings also displayed many decoys for the first time.  A fish house dubbed the ‘Camo-Shanty’ was awarded to Jeremy Salter.  Jeff Best & Brandon Williams built the house and donated many hours toward its construction.  The NFDA point’s competition went on behind the scenes and Troy Helget took seven first place awards.  Others placing in the competition were John Laska, Larry Lange, and Russell Cone.  Russell took the best of show award as voted on by the people attending the show, with a white sunfish.

 

** Next year's Decoy show is scheduled for November 24, 2012 again at the Sawmill Inn.

 

 

 Remaining Meetings for the season:  Changed to the Outpost Bar & Grill in Deer River, from the Moose lodge in Grand Rapids.
